Welcome to Cockrill Middle School! The learning commons is a place where all of our school community members are welcome to come to learn, read, collaborate, explore, and communicate. As we enter our tenth year, we want our school community to see the learning commons as the heart and hub of the school!
You might ask yourself, "What does 'learning commons' mean?" Everyone is welcome to form their own ideas and opinions of its meaning, but to me, what it means is a space for every school community member to feel welcome. It is a place to spend time quietly reading and working on assignments, it is a place to come and explore in our new makerspace, and it is a place to collaborate and work with your friends and teachers to grow as a learner and leader.
This year, I hope you will join us as we make some exciting new changes in the CMS learning commons. Some things you may notice in the next few weeks are that we will be completing reorganizing the floor plan of this space. This will include a new organizational system for our book collection.
